Here is an original photo by Douglas C. Jones that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8506, an ES-15M road switcher built by GM-EMD in August of 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. In this context, it's just passed under the 9th Street Footbridge on its way back to the 7th Street Locomotive Ready Tracks for further assignment. The blurry streaks in the photo are the tracks of snowflakes on a frigid winter's day! |
